Request to Finance Minister to Amend IT Act

BOMOO has submitted a strong representation to the Hon’ble Finance Minister, requesting amendment to Section 17(2)(viii) of the Income Tax Act to exempt leased accommodation and concessional staff loans from perquisite taxation.

This issue affects lakhs of public sector bank officers, causing heavy tax burdens and disparity. The representation highlights officers’ service conditions, judicial constraints, and the urgent need for legislative correction. With guidance from BMS and NOBO, BOMOO reaffirms its commitment to officer welfare, fairness, and morale across the banking sector.

Landmark Achievement in NPS - Now Choose your own Fund Manager & Investment Pattern

BOMOO is proud to announce a landmark achievement for Bank of Maharashtra employees under the National Pension System (NPS): staff can now choose their own Pension Fund Manager (PFM) and select their preferred investment pattern.

This victory follows years of persistent advocacy, formal representations to PFRDA and the Hon’ble Finance Minister, and strong support and guidance from BMS, NOBO, and Bank management. BOMOO thanks the MD & CEO, Executive Directors, and HRM Department for making this employee-centric reform a reality, reaffirming our commitment to safeguarding officers’ rights and financial well-being.

Update on NPS Flexibility and Fund Manager Choice for Bank Employees

BOMOO is actively advocating for enhanced flexibility in the National Pension System (NPS) for our members. We are pushing for the right of bank employees to choose their NPS fund manager and adjust their asset allocation according to personal financial goals, as per available government guidelines. This flexibility would empower members to take control of their retirement planning, ensuring better alignment with individual risk preferences and long-term needs.

BOMOO has brought this matter to the attention of Management and we are committed to providing regular updates on our progress. We encourage all members to stay informed and engaged on this issue, as we continue to work towards securing the best possible options for your retirement planning.
